Taylored Expressions: 2021 Christmas Release!

Hello!

Wow, wow, wow! I am very excited to share with you a wonderful Christmas release from Taylored Expressions! It is jammed packed with a TON of new products, all of which a crafter could use to perform many techniques with! *EEP* Please visit the TE Blog and TE webstore for product inspiration, how-to and informational videos, and to see what all the other designers have in store for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Let’s start with a frame-less and seamless shaker card…

I have seen a ton of shaker cards like this over the years, and I thought I would give it a try! Usually this can be done with a clear pouch of some sort, but I decided to repurpose packaging and do a little DIY (do it yourself) crafting.

For this card, I have used the new TE Cozy Winter Stencil & Clear Combo (with coordinating dies) and the new TE Merry & Bright stamp set (with coordinating dies). I love how Taylored Expressions thinks of an entire release in collection formation, meaning that there are products that are curated to work together as a set, but still play nicely with the rest of the collection. *FOR THE WIN*

I tend to like blues and purples for my winter scenes. It is probably because purple is my favorite color, including many different shades within that color family!

I started with creating the fun mittens. I love how this stamp and stencil combo set allows for mass production. I ink-blended the base colors for the mittens with all the stencil layers (they are numbered for ease of use). I then stamped and heat-embossed the decorative designs in TE white embossing powder. I really like how the white color keeps everything light and clean. I completed the mittens by utilizing the coordinating dies to cut them all out!

Next, I ink-blended a fun background using the same TE dye ink colors as the mittens, slightly overlapping each color in order to obtain a wonderful blend. To give the background a fun patterned look, I decided to use the new TE Trendy Tree Farm Background stamp. I stamped the ink-blended background panel a couple times with TE Sea Salt dye ink and TE Trendy Tree Farm Background stamp. The TE Sea Salt ink *lifts* the original dye ink from the background panel. If you have been following me, you will have read that I happily and accidentally found this amazing technique! I call it DYE INK LIFTING. *swoon*

Don’t you just love how that lifting property adds so much to the background panel?! I also added a few tiny white paint splatters throughout the background, tying in the winter scene look!

Atlas, here is where I put the frame-less shaker portion together before creating/adhering the die-cut sentiment. In order to create the shaker portion of the card, I took an older clear bag used to store cards in and cut it to be slightly bigger than my background panel. I adhered three of the four flaps around the background panel, letting one side be open to be able to fill my shaker bits. I used the TE Sequins – Snow Flurries shaker bit combo for this card (a favorite of mine). Once I added my desired amount of shaker bits, I folded over and adhered the last clear flap. BA-BAM! It’s frame-less and seamless because the clear packaging wraps around the ink-blended background panel keeping all the edges nice and clean.

Lastly, I stamped/white heat-embossed a “merry & bright” sentiment onto TE Vellum from the new TE Merry & Bright stamp set using the coordinating dies to die-cut the phrase out. I love the font of this new sentiment stamp set! Ta-da!

For my next card, I decided to use some TE Glitter Grab medium and FOIL! This release is completely me, right?! I created shaker cards and foiled a ton! *hehe*

Here, I am showcasing the new TE Festive Fir Stencil. TE also has created and released a die in the same shape! I cannot wait to use that one as well. I really enjoy having the same shape in different types of products (i.e. stencil, die, etc.) because one can perform so many different techniques to achieve various looks!

I started with some tone-on-tone ink blending of TE Poblano dye ink onto TE Poblano cardstock. Why start from zero when you can start from 50? Meaning, you do not always have to start ink blending onto white cardstock, but start with a colored piece instead! After I completed ink blending, I used my all-time favorite background stamp, TE Twinkle, Twinkle, to stamp a tone-on-tone background pattern. I also added a few gold paint splatters to tie into the TE Bits & Pieces – Gold Drip Drops that I added at the end.

Once the background panel was done, I used the TE Festive Fir Stencil to apply TE Glitter Grab through. Once the glitter grab was dried, I used my MINC machine and Deco Foil (Emerald Watercolor and Champagne Gold) to foil the stenciled image. How beautiful, right?! In real life, this thing shines like nobody’s business!

I added some gold drip drops embellishments to make it even more elegant and shiny! The sentiment, “Rejoice”, was stamped/gold heat-embossed onto TE Vellum to keep the look very elegant. Lastly, the entire panel was adhered to a top-folding, A2-sized card base made from TE Poblano cardstock. TE Poblano is my favorite color to use for Christmas cards!

Ah, I love this card! It could be mass produced pretty easily if one did all the steps multiple times while they had the supplies out!

Next up, is creating similar cards, but with different color schemes.

Here, I created with the new TE Foil It – Trendy Tree Farm panels and TE Trendy Tree Farm Layering Stencil. These panels are toner printed design panels that can take foil beautifully with a heating source (i.e. laminator, MINC machine, etc.). The layering stencil set allows one to easily color in the pre-printed panels and/or create little tree images by themselves! I love this idea, and I love using these types of products. I know not everyone likes to foil or wants to invest in this type of technique now, but one can still appreciate the creative process behind it, yeah?! They are SO FUN!

I used the stencils and my TE blender brushes to “color” my trendy tree farm panels! The same dye ink color combination was used with the exception of one color. It is neat to see how they look so different with just one color change. For the pink foiled card, I used TE Lollipop, Lime Zest, and Sweet Basil, and for the red foiled card, I changed out TE Lollipop for Cherry Pop. Using a pink color and red color completely changed the look of the other two green colors!

I also used two different colors of foils for each card. For the pink card, I thought a cool colored foil would be best. I used Deco Foil – Silver Shattered Glass. I love how the different parts of the foil pick up in the photos. In real life, it shines and shimmers wonderfully! For the red card, I went for a more masculine/not as bright look with Deco Foil – Emerald Watercolor. These panels were foiled using my MINC machine, but one could also use a different type of heating source.

Both cards were made together doing each step twice instead of once! That way, at the end, you have more cards completed!!

Each design stayed very similar as well. I used the TE Stitched Circle Stacklets die set in order to create a vellum circle for the sentiment to sit upon. Both sentiments, from the new TE Merry & Bright stamp set, were stamped/white heat-embossed/die-cut and adhered onto a vellum circle.

Lastly, I added a few embellishments surrounding the sentiments and adhered both completed panels to card bases! Wahoo-ka-choo! Four cards, complete!
