Taylored Expressions: January 2020 Release Day!

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

The Taylored Expressions January 2020 Release is now available at the TE webstore!! Head on over to their online website and start making your wish lists and/or must-have lists! Hehe!

Today, I am sharing some of my favorite products from the release. Let’s get started!

NORIKOBigGrumpyCatTUES

Umm…who remembers when TE released the first large grumpling last year?! It was hilarious! Now, they have added a new Big Grumpy – Cat stamp and die set to the collection along with Valentine accessories to coordinate, of course! *grin*

I went for a monochromatic color scheme because of the snarky sentiment! Also, doesn’t that cat look grumpy/snarky as well?! Ha! I used the cat in a way where he is snarky, but sweet.

To create the monochromatic background, I used the new TE Heart to Heart stencil. I re-positioned the stencil a couple times ink blending darker and darker to fill the background and give it more depth and contrast. Believe it or not, I used only ONE grey color to achieve a tri-color look!

**Helpful Crafty Tip: If you are struggling with picking out multiple ink colors and/or are on a budget, this crafty tip will be helpful! For example, if you only have one shade of grey…use it multiple times by ink blending with a very light hand, increasing the amount of pressure applied to create a darker (more contrast) tone of it! This will stretch the life of your favorite ink colors and/or help you save money! Now, if you have an ink obsession like myself, please remember I didn’t enable you here! Hehe!

Once the background was complete, I matted a piece of TE Oreo cardstock to the back and mounted it on an A2, top-folding TE Sugar Cube cardbase. I kept the design the same for the inside of the card as well.

Lastly, I colored the snarky grumpy cat with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment. I love how TE coordinates sentiments for the front and inside of cards! This little Valentine’s Day rhyme is perfect for that special sarcastic person in your life.

Onto the next card project…

NORIKOLovedCollectionTUES

Whoa! My eyes are in love! This second card project features the new TE Loved collection, which includes the Loved Background stamp, coordinating cutting plate, and stencil! Stay tuned to the end, as there is a discount saving for this lovely bundle!

NORIKOLovedCollectionTUES2

To create this card, I started off with using the three Loved collection bundle elements: stamp, cutting plate, and stencil. First, I stamped and heat embossed the heart background. I then used the coordinating stencil and TE Blender Brushes to ink blend my favorite TE pink/red ink colors! Last, I used the coordinating cutting plate to die cut several white cardstock panels to create an inlay effect!

In real life, this card has so much depth and dimension! I love it! Sometimes, I stack layers of die cuts rather than using foam tape because for me…I love clean edges on a card (from a side/top/bottom view). Does anyone else feel the same at times?! Also, I find that when I heat emboss images…they provide more contrast. 🙂

For the sentiment, I kept it simple. I used the new TE Shot Through the Heart die set to die-cut several layers of TE Oreo cardstock. These die-cuts were layered multiple times and adhered to two stitched heart stacklet die-cuts. To give the words a bit more dimension, I glazed them with glossy accents. Love that stuff! The puffy sticker effect on the sentiments coordinated well with the black heat embossed background!

I can’t wait to give this card to a special person! 🙂
