Taylored Expressions: October 2018 Release Sneak Peeks Day 1!

Happy Monday, Everyone!!!

Today starts the Taylored Expressions October Release 2018 Sneak Peeks! The entire release will be available on the TE webstore starting, Thursday morning, October 4th at 9AM CST. Wahoo!

This is my favorite release of all time because it involves creating Christmas projects! I love the cooler weather (not necessarily brutal Winters) and the festivities/family time revolving around the holiday season.

I have two fun projects to share with you today, so let’s get started!

NORIKOFoilItChristmasMON

In this release, TE is releasing a holiday version of their Foil It Collection, called Foil It – Cardstock Christmas Sentiments. Pictured below are previously released Foil It sentiments on cardstock and acetate along with the new holiday collection (wanted to give you a visual prior to the foiling).

These are pre-printed tonered images that can be foiled with a heating machine (i.e. laminator or MINC machine). There are multiple sentiments for lots of occasions.

In this card project, I used the new TE {Boxed In} – Christmas panels to foil as well. Surprisingly, these panels are also toner printed so that they can be foiled if wanted! **Double Bonus**

I went with traditional colors for this card concept because TE is also releasing a few new premium dye ink colors, which include: Cilantro, Sea Salt, and Blueberry (which we will get to in the next card project). Cilantro is the perfect bright and cheery Christmas green, which pairs terrifically with TE Cherry Pop.

I created an A2 sized card base from TE Cilantro cardstock. I used the holly patterned {Boxed In} – Christmas panel for the top layer of my card, which was foiled in red. Using the TE Stitched Rectangle Stacklets die, I cut and inlaid a small stitched rectangle. I wanted to create a subtle pattern within that stitched rectangle, therefore, I used the new TE Sea Salt premium dye ink to stamp the word “Christmas” in the background.

**Fun Fact: Sea Salt ink is so light that one could use it for no-line coloring!**

The subtle background coupled with the foiled edge images gave the perfect platform for my beautiful handmade ornament! I choose the “Merry” word of the circled sentiments and foiled it with Silver Stars Deco Foil (after coloring it red with my alcohol markers – trick of the trade). I then created matte’s behind the circled Merry sentiment with TE Stitched Circle Stacklets and their new TE Petite Scallop Circle Stacklets. Their stitched circle dies match PERFECTLY with their scallop circle dies. I absolutely love to layer and these fit me wonderfully!

I completed the ornament by tying a golden bow on top. After the front of the card was adhered, I used the new TE The Inside Scoop – Christmas Blessings stamp set to place a sentiment inside the card.

I loved how this card turned out with traditional green and red Christmas colors! Now, onto the my next card project…which takes a completely different turn with colors.

NORIKOBigOrnamentMON

This one features a lot of new products in this release that I am excited to share! One being a new color to TE: Blueberry (which comes in their premium dye ink line as well as their cardstock line). It’s a brighter navy blue that’s not quite royal blue. Love it! It pairs terrifically with Christmas colors. Other new items used here include: TE Merry Script Die, TE Merry Script Backer – Mixed Media Die, TE Make It Merry stamp set (to coordinate) and TE Little Bits – Holiday Bloomers. I used these dies and stamps for the bold sentiment on the front of my card as well as the simple sentiment on the inside of the card – together making one sentiment.

The secret reveal for this card is when you open it, a large embossed ornament pops up! Head over to my Instagram [HERE] for a small video on how this card opens up. You may not realize it, but I stamped/heat embossed the new TE Big Ornament stamp several times on the front (masking parts off), so that the pattern is cohesive and the recipient gets a small view of what’s to come!

I love interactive cards that tell a story. The ornament was colored with Copic markers inspired by the TE packaging colors. Sometimes, to make it easier on yourself, let the colors of your stamps packaging inspire you. 🙂 The detail of this stamp is incredible…which is why I had to heat emboss it to create depth and dimension with raised edges.

That’s all for today! But don’t forget…
