Taylored Expressions: Simply Stamped Wreath

Hello!

I am closing out the week with this beauty! TE has added to their “Simply Stamped” collection with this new, “Simply Stamped – Wreath” stamp set and coordinating die. All the products I have shared with you this week are available at the TE webstore.

Let’s begin!

What can I say about layered stamp sets? AMAZING! Layered stamps sets allow crafter’s, like myself who cannot draw, to able to create masterpieces effortlessly! One just needs a couple colors of ink and “poof”, magic! This wreath building set does not disappoint!

Please visit the TE Blog (HERE) to see how easily Taylor stamps this wreath! She shows you tips and tricks on a YouTube video showing how to stamp and die-cut layered stamps sets made of rubber (instead of clear stamps). This will explain how I also stamped my layers perfectly.

Once I stamped and die-cut my wreath, the rest was easy to put together. I aligned the wreath in order to heat emboss the sentiment, “Hello Friend” in the middle of an A2 card base made from TE Gauva cardstock. Once the sentiment was completed, I built a frame surrounding it. I die-cut several wreaths in order to pop the image up. I tend to do this instead of using foam adhesive so when one looks at the side of the card or tilts the card it gives a nice clean and even look.

I used the TE “Stitched Frame Stacklets 1” and TE “Little Bits – Bows” to give a little extra pizazz and dimension to the overall look!

This wreath set will go with so many occasions and other TE products! Go get crafty, relax and have fun!

Hope everyone has enjoyed this week’s projects.

Have a terrific rest of the week and weekend,

-Noriko

Taylored Expressions: Thankful for You, Mom

Hello and Welcome!

Today is going to be a special post dedicated to my mother, Kathleen.

NORIKOCuttingEdgeFlowers1April

As Mother’s Day approaches, we all may start to think of that special someone who fits that role for us. For me, I was blessed with parents who chose me to be their daughter. How lucky am I? Forever grateful and forever loved.

My life’s journey started in Japan. My adopted parents were unable to have children of their own, therefore, they placed themselves on the adoption list while stationed in Japan serving the United States Navy. They were told it may be two to three years before receiving a child. A few weeks after they were listed, to their surprise, they received a phone call to adopt a baby girl: me. Then a couple years later, they received a second call to adopt a baby boy: my younger brother.

I could not be more thankful, more blessed, or more loved by the parents who chose me to have in their life. The TE products this release that coordinate with the “mom” theme, could not have been more perfect, as my mom is perfect to me in my eyes.

The inspiration and sentiment for this card came from all the love I have for my mother. I am truly thankful for all that she has given me and is continuing to give me each and every day.

I love you, mom.

Now, let’s dive in to the details of this card…

NORIKOCuttingEdgeFlowers2April

TE came out with a new collection featuring stamps and coordinating dies that cut just the edge of an image instead of the entire image. One can do so many techniques with these types of dies!

For me, I wanted to surround the word “MOM” with the new TE “Cutting Edge – Flowers” stamp and coordinating die. My mom loves flowers!

Visit the TE Blog (HERE) in order to see a detailed YouTube video with Taylor regarding how to uniquely use a stamp positioner to create this symmetrical look on my card with the TE “Cutting Edge – Flowers”. This saves me a bunch of typing and gives you a step-by-step video! Who doesn’t love videos showcasing cardmaking?!! Don’t forget to subscribe to her YouTube channel for awesome tips and tricks, techniques, new products, etc.! She is full of amazing information!

After I copic colored my flowers and die-cut them, it was time to make a background and place the sentiment on top! Using TE Guava and Plum Punch cardstock, I stamped a tone-on-tone background with TE “Notable Blooms Background”. I wanted layer and dimension with more colors, therefore, I stamped the two exactly the same so the background image would align perfectly once matted on one another. One may not be able to tell, but I also die-cut the word, “mom”, using the new TE “Caps Lock – Mom” die to create the focal point of my sentiment out of the previously stamped TE Gauva cardstock. It aligns perfectly with the background papers I created, which is my interpretation of the “eclipse” technique.

After all the elements were popped up using foam adhesive, I stamped and cut out a small strip to complete the sentiment, “Thankful for you, Mom”.

That wraps up an idea for mother’s day or simply just a special card for your mom. Hope you all enjoyed today!

Have an amazing rest of the day,

-Noriko
